Bill O’Reilly‘s show, ‘The O’Reilly Factor,’ aired on Thursday and his guest was a Swedish defense and national security advisor by the name of Nils Bildt. There was only one problem, there is no Swedish NSA role and the country’s top office has never heard of Nils Bildt.
The man appeared on O’Reilly’s show to talk about the country’s immigration policy.
Sweden’s Dagens Nyheter newspaper said that the Swedish government has no idea who Bildt is.
“But who is Nils Bildt? Dagens Nyheter reported that Bildt had in fact emigrated from Sweden in 1994 and that he was originally named Nils Tolling. The newspaper also said Bildt had been convicted of a violent offense while living in Virginia and was given a one-year prison sentence in 2014.”
Bildt says Fox News gave him the “National Security Adviser” moniker without his consent.
He also denied spending any time in prison. “Had I spent a year in prison, I would think I would remember it,” Bildt told WaPo.
Fox stood behind its decision to completely lie to viewers.
“Our booker made numerous inquiries and spoke to people who recommended Nils Bildt and after pre-interviewing him and reviewing his bio, we agreed that he would make a good guest for the topic that evening,” Fox’s David Tabacoff told the Post.
The network didn’t explain why he was given an NSA moniker for the show.
So apparently Fox News is now assigning new Swedish experts for the country. Fun!!!
