Bigoted Pastor Greg Locke Told Some Whoppers About Tennessee During His Sunday Sermon
During his weekly sermon at Global Vision Bible Church on Sunday, right-wing pastor Greg Locke threw a screaming fit over Tennesee Republican Governor Bill Lee’s Executive Order 83 – which Lee signed on Friday – that eliminates bureaucratic hurdles to construct additional medical facilities in the event they are needed as the COVID-19 Delta variant spreads throughout their state.
Last month, Locke – a vehement opponent of coronavirus inoculations – threatened to kick masked people out of mass. Yesterday, however, he uttered a panoply of lies and distortions about Lee’s executive order, including that the governor intends to throw unvaccinated individuals into concentration camps.
“Do you see this nonsense our governor signed? People are like, ‘well there’s not really a nefarious plan. Y’all just tinfoil hat wearers and you need to adjust the rabbit ears on your TV cause y’all just crazy.’ Really? Why don’t you read for yourself what our governor – which by the way will not get reelected – because, I’m telling you, he is a coward. I don’t care how much he talks about Jesus; Bill Lee is a coward. You tell him I said so. He’s a noodle. He’s a waffler. Willy nilly nonsense. Opening up Tennessee to this bunch of craziness going on. I ain’t voting for him again. I’m ashamed I voted for him the first time. By the way, [former President Donald] Trump ain’t gonna endorse him either. I can promise you that right now but nonetheless, I’m about to get fired up,” Locke seethed to sporadic cheering.
“Did you see the executive order he just signed for COVID-19? It’s like 22 paragraphs long! You know the two things that bother me the most? Call me whatever you will. This is the FACTS! The FACTS, jacks. The facts. Two things, well, three things, one of which is anybody that has a medical license can now practice in Tennessee from out of state, which is unconstitutional, super, super dangerous, and that is very unlawful for a lot of reasons. But they’re talking about all these hospitals are overflowing with people. Why don’t you carry camera in one of these hospitals that are supposed to be overflowing with COVID patients and show me how empty they are? These chicks are in there doing Tik-Tok dances!
“But here’s the two things that bothered me most. Somebody send it to Bill, it’ll be alright. Lemme tell you something. Number one: He has authorized the power of the National Guard to get involved in issues of COVID-19. Oh, I know you didn’t bargain for this when you came to church but that’s all good. You’re here now so we might as well chit-chat for a minute. If you fall asleep and you miss some of it, it’ll be alright, you can watch in Newsweek tonight but six o’clock, maybe by three o’clock I can guarantee ya. But here’s what’s interesting about that. We look and we’re like, ‘oh the National Guard should get involved.’ Heh. You know what bothers me more about the National Guard getting involved? Why don’t you look at Section 8 of what he signed?” Locke asked rhetorically.
“They have authorized FEMA, y’all hearing me? Fan all you want. It’s about to get hot. They’ve authorized the Tennessee Department of FEMA to build what they call – in his own authorized pages of a signature – quarantine camps. I ain’t talking about East Germany, I’m talking about Tennessee! Quarantine camps for the uninformed people that are still in refusal to be vaccinated. Look, if that don’t bother you, you might as well show up at another church next week, cause I’m gonna keep raising Cain about all this nonsense,” he continued.
The only “nonsense” is that which is spewing from Locke, Right Wing Watch pointed out on Monday:
In addition to the fact that authorization to build temporary quarantine facilities is mentioned in Section 18, not Section 8, of Lee’s executive order, everything else Locke said about it is wrong. The order does not give the National Guard the power to imprison those who refuse to be vaccinated but merely states that if temporary quarantine or isolation facilities need to be quickly constructed in Tennessee, the state, in an effort to speed up the process, has suspended regulations that require plans for the construction of new health care facilities to be preapproved and certified as meeting applicable state health and safety requirements.
Locke then spiraled into an angry tangent.
“I don’t care what Bill Lee says. I don’t care what fraudulent, fake [President] Joe Biden says. I don’t care what Planned Parenthood says. I don’t care what [CNN anchor] Chris Cuomo said. I don’t care what [California Democratic Governor] Gavin Newsom said. I don’t care what [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi [D-CA] and her insurrectionist nonsense has to say. You better wake up, church! You better wake up! They hate us. We are speed bumps to the deep state on the road to their progressive communism, and I’ll shout it from the rooftops if I’m the last one. I live by what I say, and I will die by what I say if I have to. I’ll fight this garbage until my dying breath,” Locke shouted.
