Bigot David Barton Praises Hungary for Banning Depictions of LGBTQ Individuals

The Hungarian National Assembly by a vote of 157-1 recently passed a law banning depictions of homosexuality and transgender individuals geared at persons under the age of 18. Hungary under the leadership of its authoritarian-leaning Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is one of several Eastern European nations with a struggling economy and surging right-wing nationalism which has now stooped to scapegoating LGBTQ people for its societal problems.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that David Barton, a religious bigot, fake historian, and militant homophobe, praised Hungary for its draconian legislation.

Barton, a Christian extremist who for whatever twisted reason is obsessed with gay sex, believes that the Bible – rather than secular law – should serve as the dominant governing document on planet Earth.

“There’s five nations in Eastern Europe that were former Soviet bloc nations that we would describe as very young Christian nations. They’re heavily Christian, heavily influenced by Christian teaching values, and you would have Hungary, you have the Czech Republic, you have Romania, you have Ukraine, and you have Poland, and they are trying to have their policy line up with traditional biblical values. They believe that God will bless their nation if they do those things,” Barton said in an appearance on Victory News last Wednesday.

“Now the [European Union] is coming after them very aggressively as they did with Poland and those countries are saying, ‘well, we really don’t need the EU. We’re not part of a group. We are a sovereign nation. We’re gonna do what’s right,'” he continued. “And so I applaud those guys for doing that, and quite frankly, most American Christians probably would not have stood with that because we’re so scared of getting beat up on by media and others. But that is a biblically correct position that you have, as there are moral rights and wrongs and sexuality, and those are five nations in Eastern Europe that have been trying to uphold biblical standards on morality, and and and good for them.”
