Bidens Dealing With White House Construction Project Trump Shunned
Donald Trump, the real estate developer, knows how messy and noisy construction sites can be. Donald Trump, the 45th president, and his wife Melania want no part of that inconvenience. That’s why they postponed a much need security upgrade project to the White House, according to a CNN report.
In particular Melania, who oversaw the widely criticized renovation of the Rose Garden, was opposed to disrupting what she viewed as the improved aesthetics of the back lawn. She also didn’t want to have to deal with noise from the project. So together they decided to push it off onto the next occupant of the Oval Office, which of course turned out to be President Joe Biden.
Work began several weeks ago on the south side of the White and is one of the largest in scope and scale at the executive mansion in several years. It involves extensive, deep digging from the upper main driveway across acres of perfectly manicured green grass. Heavy machinery has been brought in and temporary gates have been constructed as normal walking paths needed to be re-routed.
One of the biggest headaches comes whenever the president needs get to Marine One. Typically the helicopter takes off and lands from the South Lawn, but the construction project has relocated that spot to the Ellipse, the park just below the South Lawn. Rather than simply being able to walk out the back door of the White House, cross a few hundred yards of grass and hop on board, for more than a month now Biden has had to motorcade to get down to the helicopter.
The $17.9 million project is expected last several more weeks.
