Biden: When Trump is Gone Republicans Will Have “An Epiphany”
There have been a number of times over the past 3 years where Democrats expected Republicans to speak out against Donald Trump. They’ve mostly been let down as few conservative lawmakers outside of Mitt Romney, Will Hurd or Adam Kinzinger ever say much about the President’s various controversies.
Republican fealty to Trump has left many to wonder what would happen if a Democrat was elected in 2020. During a Wednesday speech in Washington DC Democratic hopeful Joe Biden argued that Republicans would experience an epiphany over Trump.
Biden made the comments while arguing why he was a better candidate than Elizabeth Warren. He told the DC crowd, “With Donald Trump out of the way, you’re going to see a number of my Republican colleagues have an epiphany. Mark my words. Mark my words.”
The former Vice President explained why he is the perfect candidate to work with the GOP.:
“It’s going to take two things: One is somebody who in fact, knows how to reach across the aisle and get things done,” he said. “Now the people that are running against me tell me I’m naïve, one said I should be in the Republican primary, God love her. That’s not the way you get things done, man. You don’t go in and tell people that they disagree there’s something fundamentally wrong with them.”
While Biden has run ahead of throughout much of the Democratic nomination process, a recent Quinnipiac poll showed him in 4th place in Iowa. The Iowa Caucuses will be the first event of the primary season.
