Biden Opens Up Massive 14% Lead in Latest Wall St. Journal Poll
This has been one of the longest weeks in political history. So it’s easy to forget that there was a debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden earlier this week. And in that debate, Donald Trump performed terribly, interrupting his opponent over 100 times.
With Trump now in the hospital with COVID-19, it is going to be difficult to get a clear picture where the race stands. But a recent poll released by NBC News/Wall St. Journal, Biden had his biggest lead of the election cycle at 14%.
The poll was conducted after the debate was held but before the announcement that Trump had contracted COVID 19. The last time the survey was done in mid-September, Biden led the current president by 8 points, 51% to 43%. But this time around, Biden is rising and Trump is fading. The survey shows Biden garnering 53% of the vote with Trump only capturing 39%.

One of the pollsters involved in the survey was Democratic strategist Jeff Horwitt. He told NBC News, “The clear loser from the debate was Donald Trump. And at least for the short term, this has damaged his standing against Joe Biden.”
The poll also showed that Trump is failing with the types of voters that he needs most. Among senior voters, who broke big for him in 2016, he trails Biden 62-35.
The current president is also doing terribly with suburban women. These voters were instrumental in 2018’s Blue Wave election. The Wall St. Journal poll showed that Trump is trailing Biden with suburban women by a 58% to 33% margin.
