It has been a good week for Joe Biden. After multiple polls showed that the former Vice President was losing ground in the Democratic nomination race, he seems to have righted the ship. A CNN survey released this week showed Biden with a 15% lead over the field.
With the South Carolina primaries looming, Biden appeared on 60 Minutes over the weekend. During the segment, the conversation turned to Trump who the former Vice President referred to as an “idiot.”
Biden was asked about Trump by Norah O’Donnell who wondered how the President may try to affect the 2020 election. The Democratic hopeful answered:
“Everybody knows what’s going on. Trump not only doesn’t want to do anything about it, he’s going out and asking for help. ‘Come help me. Come help me defeat — keep Biden from being the nominee.”
The former Vice President then said that not only does Trump not want him to be the 2020 candidate, the Russians don’t either. He continued, “The Russians don’t want me to be president and Trump doesn’t want me to be the nominee.”
The interview closed with Biden claiming that the President has a severe lack of intelligence. He told O’Donnell, “[Trump is] an idiot— in terms of saying that. Everybody knows this. Everybody knows it. Nobody doubts it.”
Biden has been a frequent topic of conversation during rallies hosted by the President. At a recent event in Minneapolis Trump said, “He was never considered a good senator. He was only a good vice president because he understood how to kiss Barack Obama’s ass.”
