U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos owns a 163-foot yacht and for a short period of time over the weekend, the yacht was set adrift on its own.
The Toledo Blade reports that a vandal untied the boat while it was moored off of Lake Erie in Huron, Ohio. The boat drifted and hit a dock, causing large scratches and scrapes that will cost upward of $10,000 to repair.
The yacht, known as the “Seaquest” was eventually brought under control by several crew members.
The $40 million yacht is one of 10 that is owned by the DeVos family.
Police are looking at surveillance video to see if they can identify the person who freed DeVos’s yacht from its anchor.
At this time there are no identified suspects.
