Beto O’Rourke has the unusual situation of being a liberal in formerly ruby red Texas. But as O’Rourke showed during the 2018 Texas senatorial race, the gap is closing in the Lone Star State. Now a presidential candidate, the former Texas congressman said if he was to win, automatic weapons would be sold back to the government.
O’Rourke discussed the Odessa, Texas shooting today on multiple cable mews networks. He also discussed his gun buyback program. According to the candidate, the epidemic of gun violence is f*cked up.
During an appearance on CNN this afternoon, O’Rourke unleashed an f-bomb during an interview. He said, “Thoughts and prayers have done nothing to stop the epidemic of gun violence. So yes, this is f*cked up. If we don’t call it out for what it is, if we’re not able to speak clearly, if we’re not able to act decisively, we’ll continue to have this kind of bloodshed in America. And I cannot accept that. We’re going to speak as defiantly and as strongly as we can but we’re also going to take action. Universal background checks, red flag laws, end of the sales of weapons of war and buying those AK-47s and AR-15s back so they cannot be used against our fellow Americans.”

O’Rourke has also released a new t-shirt which features the words this is f’d up. The candidates campaign has said that the proceeds will go to charities which support gun control. The campaign wrote on Twitter, “100% of the proceeds from the sale of this item will be shared equally between Mom’s Demand Action and March for Our Lives.” The O’Rourke team also noted, “if you’re angrier about a swear word than a baby being shot in the face, consider your choices.”
