David Letterman has been a mainstay on late-night television for longer than most of us can remember. In addition to hosting countless unforgettable interviews over the course of his decades-long tenure, he has also shared the spotlight with many, many great musical acts. Now, in loving memory of what was a truly outstanding era in American television, here is a retrospective look at all the best musical moments in the history of the Letterman show. Additionally, we will also look at what other people are saying as parting words to the great old dinosaur. From Tom Hanks, to Julia Roberts, everybody has something to say to the retiring old geezer. One thing is clear, David Letterman will stay embedded in all of our collective memories for decades to come, and the comedians who must try to fill his shoes now have a lot of work to do. Let’s all just try to remind ourselves to be open-minded as the new generation of comedians fails to be as awesome as this man.
