The slowly narrowing Democratic Presidential race started out huge, with over 20 candidates. The race in 2016 was much different with just Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley vying for the nomination. The fight between Clinton and Sanders was contentious, though Sanders did eventually campaign for the 2016 nominee.
Bad feelings have lingered for Clinton at least. During a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, she said of Sanders, “nobody likes him.” When asked about the comments today, the Vermont senator deflected by saying that “his wife likes him.”
During the interview, Clinton was asked, “In the doc, you’re brutally honest on Sanders: “He was in Congress for years. He had one senator support him. Nobody likes him, nobody wants to work with him, he got nothing done. He was a career politician. It’s all just baloney and I feel so bad that people got sucked into it.” That assessment still hold?
The former Secretary of State simply answered, “Yes it does.”
Reporters were eager to ask Sanders about the strong comments on Tuesday. When probed, the senator said opted for humor, saying, “On a good day, my wife likes me, so let’s clear the air on that one.”
Sanders continued, “Look, right now, today I am dealing with impeachment. Secretary Clinton is entitled to her point of view. My job right now is focusing on the impeachment trial. My job today is to put together a team that can defeat the most dangerous president in the history of the United States of America.”
