Bennie Thompson: Ginni Thomas is on J6 Committee’s List of Witnesses to Talk To

Over the last two months, the Congressional January 6th Committee has laid out their case against Donald Trump. And it has been brutally effective. For the most part, though, major figures within Trump’s orbit have not testified publically.

The committee would like to change that. To interview a Mike Pence or Mark Meadows could potentially be devastating to the former President. While those men have been reticent to speak to the committee, the group has other targets. According to Bennie Thompson, one of them is Ginni Thomas.

The New York Times reports, “Virginia Thomas, a political activist who pushed to overturn the 2020 election and the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, is ‘still on the committee’s list’ of witnesses to call, even though she has rebuffed attempts to interview her, Mr. Thompson said.”

The story continues, “Mr. Thompson also told reporters the panel was continuing to discuss — as members have for months — whether it should try to summon Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence to testify, but lawmakers have not reached a conclusion about how to proceed.”

The court is on unprecedented grounds here. The spouse of a Supreme Court Justice has never had to testify in front of the House of Representatives. Then again, the wife of a Supreme Court Justice has never participated in an attempted coup. It will certainly be an explosive situation if Ginni Thomas is called to testify.
