After a lengthy lull in the Stormy Daniels Vs. Michael Cohen lawsuit, today’s news that former Trump attorney Michael Cohen will enter a plea deal, appears to be the spark that Daniels and her attorney, Michael Avenatti have been waiting for.
Moments ago Mr. Avenatti chimed in with his thoughts on what this plea deal could mean for his client as well as the President, first directing a warning to Mr. Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani:
“@RudyGiuliani Buckle Up Buttercup. You and your client completely misplayed this…”
Avenatti then went onto make a declaration that’s sure to ruffle some feathers within the White House:
“The developments of today will permit us to have the stay lifted in the civil case & should also permit us to proceed with an expedited deposition of Trump under oath about what he knew, when he knew it, and what he did about it. We will disclose it all to the public.”
If Avenatti is correct, the public could be privy to information that only Robert Mueller and investigators for the Special Counsel had known up until this point. Additionally, a forced testimony of the President under oath could lead to quite a showdown between Mr. Trump and Mr. Avenatti.
Avenatti also took the opportunity on Twitter today to praise his client, Stormy Daniels, saying, “We should all take a moment and applaud the tremendous courage and fortitude of
@StormyDaniels, who has refused to be silent, who has refused to back down, and who has allowed facts to be presented in the court of public opinion, which some may argue is the most efficient.”
