As Trump Provoked Mob Storms Capitol, Don Jr. Pleads, “This Isn’t Who We Are”
In a moment that is both astonishing and completely predictable, a mob provoked by Donald Trump has stormed the US Capitol. Trump spoke to the protesters this morning and egged them on. Weeks ago, he encouraged the crowd to come to DC, promising it would be wild.
The president’s son tweeted, “This is wrong and not who we are. Be peaceful and use your 1st Amendment rights, but don’t start acting like the other side. We have a country to save and this doesn’t help anyone.”

Of course, condemnation for the message came down quickly. Democratic strategist Adam Parkhomenko wrote, “You did this you f*cking traitor.”
GOP pollster Frank Luntz also chimed in, using a line made famous by the elder Trump. “Tell them to stand back and stand by,” he wrote.
Tell them to “stand by and stand back.”
