AOC Endorses Maya Wiley for NYC Mayor

In a major development in the race for New York City’s mayor, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) endorsed candidate Maya Wiley at an event on Saturday.
“I’m putting Maya number one,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
The endorsement by the progressive powerhouse could be a huge boost for Wiley as she tries to consolidate support among the left-wing of the Democratic Party ahead of the primary election later this month.
Ocasio-Cortez praised Wiley’s long history of fighting for progressive causes.

Wiley said she was humbled and proud to be endorsed by Ocasio-Cortez, who has become a national voice for progressive issues since her 2018 election to the House of Representatives.
“While we have it in Congress, it is time we have this type of courage leading us through a historic crisis that has created a crossroads,” Wiley said.

“This is a city where we will not just come back, but we have the courage to bring every single New Yorker with us because we’re gonna make sure everyone can afford the rent,” Wiley continued. “We’re gonna make sure everyone is safe in the streets from police violence and from crime, and we’re gonna do it recognizing that we are truly safe when all our people are well and that this is a good place to live.”
Nobody says change like @AOC. And with AOC’s help we are going to win this race and bring the change we need to the city we love. #mayamentum pic.twitter.com/bOkheUJa1y
