There are certain professions where workers have been particularly resistant to vaccinations. And despite the fact that hundreds of police officers have died of COVID, many cops have still avoided the shot.

How many, though, were willing to lose their jobs over vaccine mandates? In New York, where shots are required, Conservatives have predicted that thousands of cops would quit. Today, only 34 officers chose to take a leave over the policy, which amounted to .15%.
Main St. Law’s Tristan Snell reports, “After threats that 10,000 NYPD officers could quit the force over the NYC vaccine mandate, the actual number going on unpaid leave today was 34.”

Police commissioner Dermot Shea told reporters:
“That’s very fluid. That could go up as the day goes on. It could also go down and people get their vaccinations. I just remind people that we are what we are forgetting is the reasonable accommodation component. And then we expect that as those cases are reviewed, and people are either granted or denied, certainly in the case of denied people, people will choose to get the vaccine.”
Many officers have applied for a religious exemption and those applications are still under review. It is expected, however, that they will be denied.
