You probably know Anthony Kiedis best as the frontman for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but how much do you really know? Despite the fact that Kiedis has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. Number Fifteen: His Father Introduced Him to Drugs. Kiedis revealed in her memoir that his father would blow marijuana smoke in his face when he was just four years old. Before he turned 15, Kiedis was using heroin and cocaine in his home.
Number Fourteen: He Was in Point Break. It’s true! Kiedis makes a cameo in the movie Point Break. He played a “gun-toting surf dude.” He has also acted with Charlie Sheen.
Number Thirteen: He Is the World’s Sexiest Vegetarian. PETA voted Kiedis as the World’s Sexiest Vegetarian in 2008. Leona Lewis was the sexiest female vegetarian that year. Kiedis has since said that he sometimes eats fish, but steak does nothing for him.
Number Twelve: He Named His Son After a Band. Kiedis named his son Everly Bear, and he has said that he named him after the Everly Brothers. The Everly Brothers are one of Kiedis’ favorite bands.
Number Eleven: He Joked About Covering “Superstition.” The Red Hot Chili Peppers covered Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition,” and Kiedis joked that the reason they covered the song was because they were between that and New Kids On The Block’s “Hanging Tough.”
Number Ten: He Is Very Spiritual. We already mentioned that Kiedis is a vegetarian, but he is even more in touch with nature in terms of his spirituality. Kiedis practices Vipassana meditation and also follows the Kabbalah religion.
Number Nine: He Lost His Virginity to His Dad’s Girlfriend. Kiedis revealed that his dad helped him to lose his virginity to his girlfriend, who was 18 years old. Kiedis was high quaaludes, and it happened just before his 12th birthday.
