Andrew McCabe Launches Legal Defense Fund With GoFundMe Page
FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was fired by President Donald Trump just 26 hours before his pension fully vested. McCabe has now launched an official legal defense fund to help him navigate a series of inquiries into his actions while serving at the FBI for 22 years.
The GoFundMe page has raised $101,188 in just three hours. McCabe is hoping to raise $150,000 to fight back against Donald Trump and his administration.
McCabe’s legal defense fund will be used in the face of congressional inquiries and a probe into his conduct by the Justice Department’s inspector general, as well as “any potential lawsuits he might consider.”
“Andrew McCabe’s FBI career was long, distinguished, and unblemished,” the GoFundMe page proclaims.
“His reward for that has been a termination that was completely unjustified, amidst repeated ad hominem attacks by the President of the United States.”
McCabe’s legal team is led by former Justice Department Inspector General Michael Bromwich, who now serves as an attorney at the D.C. law firm Robbins, Russell, Englert, Orseck, Untereiner & Sauber LLP.
McCabe alleges he was fired by Attorney General Jeff Sessions because of his role as a crucial witness in the special counsel investigation into Russia’s election meddling and any possible conspiracy with President Trump’s campaign.
None of the money from the GoFundMe Campaign will go towards McCabe’s own pension or other personal expenses. Any money left over after his legal battles conclude will be donated to a charity of McCabe’s choosing.
