Donald Trump may be popular in some areas of the country. New York certainly isn’t one of them. Still, Andrew Giuliani, the son of Rudy, thought that he could become the state’s Republican candidate for Governor.
The proudly unvaxxed Giuliani was taking on a number of candidates for the spot. In the end, he didn’t even come close, losing the race to fellow Trump fan Lee Zeldin by more than 20 points.
There were 4 candidates for the Republican nomination, but Zeldin was always the clear favorite. The former congressman took 44% of the vote. Giuliani was second with 22%. Former Republican nominee Rob Astorino garnered 18% of support and businessman Harry Wilson was at 14%.
Andrew Giuliani loses gubernatorial primary in NY to Lee Zeldin. Junior Giuliani – 36 years old – had touted his 'five decades' in politics. In other news, Senior Giuliani apparently asked Trump for a pardon and Rudy appears concerned that he'll end up in prison.

Giuliani never had much of a campaign. Much of his promotion was based on his father and Trump. The message never resonated with voters and now the Trump acolyte will need to regroup.
