Amy Winehouse: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 1)

Amy Winehouse is one of the most well-remembered stars who suffered one of the most tragic demises of all time. Though she may have led a tumultuous life, there are some things about her that are worth digging up. Below, we present 15 things you didn’t know about Amy Winehouse, which we will bring to you in two parts. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!

Number Fifteen: She Was Inspired by Salt-n-Pepa. Growing up, Winehouse was part of a rap group she formed with her best friend, Juliette Ashby. They called themselves “Sweet ‘N’ Sour.” Of course, Winehouse was “Sour,” and Ashby was “Sweet.”

Number Fourteen: She Didn’t Always Want to Be a Musician. One of Winehouse’s childhood dreams was to be a roller-skating waitress, otherwise known as a carhop. Can’t you just see her in skates and a cute striped dress?

Number Thirteen: She’s Pulled Some Crazy Stunts. During a photo shoot Winehouse was doing with Terry Richardson, she took a glass shard that was being used as a prop and carved the words “I Love Blake” into her stomach. The “Blake” she wrote is in reference to her fiance at the time, Blake Fielder-Civil.

Number Twelve: She Loved Animals. Winehouse loved cats so much that at one time it was rumored she had 11 cats. And she clearly had animal magnetism. One story alleges what while the singer was in Barbados in 2010, a monkey followed her everywhere she went for an entire week.

Number Eleven: She Had a Dream Superpower. If Winehouse could have any superpower, she would choose to have super sexuality. She also sad in an interview that she often used sex to relax.

Number Ten: The Most Important Life Lesson She Ever Learned Was… In a 2007 interview Winehouse did with The Guardian, she said that the most important lesson in life she ever learned was that, “You learn things every day, and life is short.” She also mentioned in that interview that she wanted to be remembered as genuine.

Number Nine: She Never Finished School. Amy was attending the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School but was expelled before she graduated. She soon became famous, so she didn’t really care.

Number Eight: The “Rehab” Inspiration. Winehouse’s hit song, “Rehab,” was actually inspired by her separation from her management company. She split from her company after they asked her to go to rehab for the abuse of alcohol.
