American Medical Association Rips Donald Trump for Claiming Doctors Profit From COVID-19 Deaths

The American Medical Association tore into President Donald Trump on Friday for falsely claiming, again, that doctors profit from people dying of COVID-19.

The virus has killed more than 235,000 Americans since the pandemic began in March. Daily new cases are about to top 100,000, and more than 9.5 million Americans have already been infected because Trump refused to implement a national plan to stop the spread of the lethal pathogen – and things are getting worse.

But the commander in chief lives in an alternate reality.

“Our doctors get more money if somebody dies from COVID. You know that, right? I mean our doctors are very smart people. So what they do is they say, ‘I’m sorry, but everybody dies of COVID,'” the president said Friday at a rally in Waterford Township, Michigan.

The AMA is simply not tolerating Trump’s “malicious, outrageous, and completely misguided” lies about medical professionals, who have sacrificed their lives to help victims of the coronavirus.

“Throughout this pandemic, physicians, nurses, and frontline health care workers have risked their health, their safety and their lives to treat their patients and defeat a deadly virus. They did it because duty called and because of the sacred oath they took,” AMA President Doctor Susan R. Bailey said in a statement.

“The suggestion that doctors – in the midst of a public health crisis – are overcounting COVID-19 patients or lying to line their pockets is a malicious, outrageous, and completely misguided charge. COVID-19 cases are at record highs today,” Bailey continued. “Rather than attacking us and lobbing baseless charges at physicians, our leaders should be following the science and urging adherence to the public health steps we know work – wearing a mask, washing hands and practicing physical distancing.”
