All Time Low: Trump Spox Claims Parents of Separated Children Don’t Want Them Back
Joe Biden was able to hit Donald Trump on a number of things during last night’s debate. One of the strongest moments came when the former Vice President slammed Trump over the migrant children his administration has made orphans. A bemused Trump simply responded, “good.”
While the issue resonates soundly with Democrats, Republicans don’t seem at all bothered by it. That was clear during a Friday interview with Trump spokesperson Tim Murtaugh. Murtaugh told CNN that in many cases, the parents don’t want the children back.

Murtaugh told host John Berman, “The fact is it’s not as simple as you make it sound or Joe Biden made it sound on the stage last night to locate the parents who are in other countries. And when they do locate them, it has been DHS’ experience that in many cases the parents do not want the children returned.”
The Trump spokesperson said later in the interview, “You have to locate the parents and when they are located in these other countries in many cases, John, the parents do not want the children sent back to them in their home countries.”

“It's a regrettable situation,” Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh says about 545 parents separated from their children at the border.
