After Another Embarrassing Segment, Twitter Calls for Rick Santorum to Be Fired by CNN
In an effort to give a balanced viewpoint on each subject, CNN often has Republicans appear on their news programs. The most prominent of these GOP talking heads is Rick Santorum. Santorum was formerly a US senator, but has been out of office since losing his 2006 reelection bid by 17 points.

The former GOP lawmaker frequently acts as a surrogate for the Trump campaign and Monday night was no exception. Santorum claimed that Democrats should ignore Trump’s attempts at overturning the 2020 election. They were, he claimed, just getting a taste of their own medicine. After the segment, there were a number of calls for CNN to fire the commentator.
While speaking with host Jim Sciutto, Santorum argued that Trump was right in his actions. He claimed the president’s current action is simply revenge for Democrats attempting to undermine his 2016 victory.
Rick Santorum says Trump trying to overthrow the election is just like what Democrats did to him 4 years ago.

Singer Ricky Davila wrote, “And CNN forces me to change the channel again as they continue to bring on racist moron Rick Santorum to praise sedition and treason. What a disgrace it is to see you paying a being like him to just lie day in and day out.”

The Atlantic’s Norman Ornstein also weighed in, tweeting, “It is past time for CNN to find an alternative to Rick Santorum.”

And historian Kevin Kruse responded to Ornstein’s post, “Rick Santorum was voted out of the Senate FOURTEEN YEARS AGO by an embarrassing 18-point margin, so unless CNN is talking an awful lot about what it was like to be humiliated way back in the MySpace era, I’m confused about what they think he’s bringing to the set.”
