There was a time when the GOP had policy positions and would push to make them law. Those days are long gone. Today's GOP only wants to air their grievances about their issues with the world and please Donald Trump, the leader of their party.
This week the GOP called Dr. Anthony Fauci and Merrick Garland to speak before Congress. They had no interest in getting answers from the men, though, they just wanted to perform for their voters and Trump. California Congressman Adam Schiff ripped those Republicans during an appearance on Lawrence O'Donnell's show last night.
The Democrat told the host, "I watched this spectacle on the GOP side, that in the beginning there were a few people who stood up to [Trump] in some way, shape, or form."
Schiff continued:
"They are all going or gone and all we are left with is the stooges and sycophants. That is what you saw on the committee today: there is no level below which they will not sink to defend Donald Trump, which underscores again why we cannot allow that convicted felon in the Oval Office because there will be no restraint on him by any of his own party in that kind of a racketeering administration or in Congress."
