Dennis Hof, a brothel owner, and HBO adult reality star has defeated three-term Republican James Oscarson.
Hof, author of “The Art of the Pimp,” ousted Oscarson and then told The Associated Press, “It’s all because Donald Trump was the Christopher Columbus for me… He found the way and I jumped on it.”
Hof ran on the slogan, “The Trump Of Pahrump” in reference to his residence located in Pahrump, Nevada. Hof will now face Democrat Lesia Romanov in the November 2018 mid-term elections. He is also considered the favored candidate in the Republican-leaning Assembly District.
47 legislative seats have been flipped in the United States from red-to-blue since Trump took office, a sign that voters may be distancing themselves from the Trump style of politics.
Hof is the owner of the Love Ranch brothel in Crystal, Nevada.
The pimp from Pahrump is battling against a November ballot that proposes closing down legal brothels in counties where Hof operates. Brothels are already banned in counties where Las Vegas and Reno are located, focusing instead on rural areas.
Hof said on Tuesday that he’s selling off some of his brothels to focus more on politics.
The Hof victory is a quick pivot from his 2016 faceoff with Oscarson when the pimp ran as a Libertarian and his opponent won 60% of the vote.
Hof for President?
