Donald Trump’s continued refusal to concede the 2020 election well over 200 days after it was officially decided for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris amid his supporters’ continued calls of widespread fraud have raised doubts about the legitimacy of President Biden’s win among his Republican base. A new poll shows that not only do more than half of Republicans believe the election was rigged, they believe Trump is the rightful President.

The poll, conducted by the website Ipsos, shows just how Trump’s impact remains amid a brand new administration. Regardless of audits, recounts, and court cases that have definitively called the 2020 Presidential election for Joe Biden, 56% of Republicans believe the election was rigged or the result of illegal voting, and 53% think Donald Trump is the actual President, not Joe Biden.

Only 30% of Republicans feel confident that absentee or mail-in ballots were accurately counted, compared to 86% of Democrats and 55% of independents. As a result, 87% of Republicans believe it is important that the government place new limits on voting to protect elections from fraud. Finally, 63% percent of Republicans think Donald Trump should run for President again in 2024, compared to only 8% of Democrats and 23% of independents.

Big Lie

Twitter certainly had plenty to say about the new data surrounding the old Big Lie, considering the Republicans are also busy rewriting the history of January 6th by trying to prevent a formal commission to investigate the events of that day, which the Republicans have clearly taken to mean that they themselves will be investigated.
