Halloween wouldn’t be Halloween without horror movies. Trick-or-treating is fun, getting candy is super sweet, but getting scared for fun tops every other activity that encompasses Halloween. With that in mind, here are five kids from horror movies who scare the pants off of us. It’s time to get scared and maybe even lose some sleep. Do you have your popcorn ready?
Number Five: Gage Creed from Pet Sematary (1989).
Sure, Gage Creed is super adorable when he’s alive, but afterwards? Not so much. The plot of Pet Semetary goes like this: Gage Creed, a young boy, is hit by a truck. After his death, his father, a doctor, goes to extreme lengths to bring his baby boy back to life. Louis Creed takes Gage’s dead body and buries him in an Indian burial ground, where rituals were performed. Gage is quickly resurrected, and it’s really creepy. Little Gage Creed runs around the house with his father’s medical scalpel wanting to play with everyone. He wants to play with us, but we don’t want to play with him. Gage is one of the creepiest toddlers you’ll ever see, and he’s sure to give you a fright (and plenty of nightmares).
Number Four: Danny from The Shining (1980).
Similar to Gage in Pet Sematary, Danny from The Shining isn’t a creepy child at first. Essentially, Danny is a little boy who just wants to ride his bike around an abandoned, haunted hotel. However, Danny gets very creepy when he uses his finger to talk. When Danny yells “redrum” and moves his index finger in the air, he sends chills down our spines.
Number Three: Isaac from Children of the Corn (1984).
I don’t know what’s creepier – the way Isaac quietly stares at townspeople through a diner window or the fact that he looks so much older than he really is, or maybe the fact that he has the ability to control all the children in the town and convince them to murder the adults. Either way, Isaac is one of the creepiest kids-cum-cult leaders ever created. Even his voice has the ability to freak people out. Whatever you do, don’t go into the cornfield.
Number Two: Regan MacNeil from The Exorcist (1973).
Everyone is familiar with Regan MacNeil from the classic horror movie, The Exorcist. This little girl isn’t creepy until she’s possessed. The physical changes Regan endures throughout her possession are truly terrifying. Who can forget the iconic scene where a possessed Regan spins her head completely around? No one. That scene is what nightmares are made of. Linda Blair, the actress who played Regan MacNeil, even scared herself while filming the movie.
Number One: Samara Morgan from The Ring (2002).
As one of the few females on this list, Samara Morgan from The Ring seriously gets a gold medal for creepiest kid. Her appearance alone scares everyone. Her pale skin, white nightgown, and long black hair hiding her face are enough to scare us for months. Let’s not forget her actions in the VHS tape that kills everyone. Many of us watched those scenes from between our fingers as Samara slowly climbed out of the well and then, subsequently, out of the television. Good luck sleeping tonight!
