One million UK citizens have signed a petition to ban President Donald Trump from an upcoming state visit.
Prime Minister Theresa May has been asked by the country’s citizens to cancel the visit, which would include meetings with May and multiple British political figures, including opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn, who voiced their support for the petition.
The petition says the visit would cause Queen Elizabeth II “embarrassment.”
Under the country’s own rules, any petition with at least 100,000 signatures will be considered for a parliamentary debate.
This isn’t the first time Donald Trump has triggered a discussion in the UK. A debate was held in January 2016 after his plans for a Muslim ban received 586,930 signatures.
